"What's that?"
"Well every so often all the people in a country get to choose who they want to be a leader. So that's what you do when you vote - you choose a leader."
Slight pause. Then, with a slight hint of annoyance I had not informed her earlier of responsibilities to come:
"Are you choosing me?"
